Winter gear

The last couple of years here in Europe, we almost forgot the meaning of the season "WINTER." But this year, that cold, snowy winter came back. So how do you protect yourself against those elements when you work outdoors or when you are in the military or any other response teams?

First of all, you have to know you have to work in layers to protect yourself. Not too many, but neither too few. If you are moving all the time, a base layer (avoid cotton) and a winter windbreaker vest are more than okay when it's dry-cold weather. When it's wet and cold, you need an extra rain jacket.

But when you don't move or you have a static work outside, you need a second layer underneath your vest. Here I tested (as asked by the company) the thermal level 2 layer from Defcon 5 (3 colors available). This is made from 95% polyester and 5% spandex. I tried it as a base layer and also as a second layer with a merino wool t-shirt underneath. In both situations, I have to say that the shirt works. For the price (32.30€), it is worth it in every way.

Keeping yourself warm in harsh conditions is vital. Keep warm and stay safe.
