Military knives
When you see knives used by the military in movies, most of the time those are knives delivered by big brands or makers. When you go into reality on the field and you ask the soldiers/warriors on the job what kind of knives they carry, you will see that most of them carry a cheap knife. More and more armies supply their military personnel with quality products like Leatherman, Victorinox Swisstool, Spydercos, and others. The French soldiers get a knife (named C.A.C.) that is delivered by TB-Outdoor, a company in France (Central Massive).
Most of the knives you will see in the pictures are well used and even sometimes abused. Many just clean their blade, but many don't sharpen their knife.
Why do they carry a cheap knife? Because many of them are afraid to lose their knife, and another part of them find that most of the knives on the market are too expensive.
The conclusion taken by Goibniu is that when the companies and brands could make a qualitative knife with an okay price marking, the military would consider buying quality instead of cheap.
But cheap has not to be bad. Some cheaper brands are really well made, like the Doukdouk, Opinel, and Victorinox-made.
So keep your blade sharp and use your tools.
Respect the laws of your country.
Knives are tools with an edge.
