Why, what and who

Hello readers,

This article is written more like a letter than a review or anything else. Yes, in the past, I have already written a lot about knives, but that is what my blog revolves around, not forgetting drinks, good food, and traveling. But now I present no new folding knife or any new unboxing. No, I want to talk about the why, the what, and the who.

In this first part, it will be about folding knives and later in the year about fixed blades in part 2.

If you look at the market, you will see that there are different models and brands. You also have handmade, semi-industrial, hand-built, and fully machine-built knives. You have traditional, modern, unique, and old-school retro knives. Knives with multiple tools or blades, all in all, you have a lot of different styles and shapes. It is almost impossible to hold all those different knives in your whole lifetime.

So how and what do you want to collect or have? Good question! I believe that you can split it up into a few categories:

1) The EDC community: modern brands or semi-customized industrial knives.

2) The outdoor community: traditional knives, multi-blade knives like Victorinox, and for those without a budget, a handmade knife.

3) The gentlemen's community: modern knives, handmade knives with noble materials.

4) The collectors' community: they are the most difficult community to explain. You have those that collect only knives from specific knifemakers, then you have those that collect different or just one specific brand. You have collectors who collect knives, knives, and more knives, and you have some collectors who collect only those knives from which they can gain money.

But hey, one thing is for sure: those that read this all love knives, so in my eyes it doesn't matter what you collect. As long as the fun is still there, I would say have fun.

Don't forget to respect the laws and rules of your country, and never forget, knives are tools with a sharp edge.

More stories and reviews will follow, normally each Thursday, but sometimes, when it is not possible, a few days later. We do our best.

Greetings,

Christophe Verstappen

P.S.: I personally want to thank all the companies, makers, and knifelovers that make this blog's creation possible.
