This Sunday I'm going on vacation by plane to Menorca, a Spanish island where it's allowed to carry pocketknives with blades shorter than 11.5 cm. So I'm taking the two knives shown in the pictures with me. They'll go in my toiletry bag in my suitcase so that I have no problems at customs. I'm also taking lip balm and a cap with me to protect myself directly against the sun. Of course, when I'm at the pool, I'll use sunscreen lotion to protect myself. A sturdy watch to tell me the time and a small eating utensil, always handy when you need one. Not to forget some bandages for when you cut yourself, and that's it. I hear you thinking, why two knives? The Schrade is for cutting my food when necessary, and the SAK is more my small toolkit with a blade.

This kit is just in case and not really a must-have. And besides my titanium fork and cap, all the rest is not really expensive gear.

But you never know, and it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not

have it.
