Swiss Army Knives

In some, yes, in others no, but in most of us, some DNA from our ancestors' collecting and hunting days still remains. So, what is more fun than collecting SAKs (Swiss Army knives)? In the accompanying photos, you will see that some have a different cross than others. There are Wenger-made and Victorinox-made knives. Wenger knives are no longer available new, or so it seems! I strongly believe that if you look in old, long-standing knife shops, fishing gear shops, and rare gun shops, you might still find new knives from the brand Wenger. The Victorinox knives are found almost everywhere, but if you want a special model that has been brought out in a limited edition, sometimes you have to be fast. Older and rarer models can be found in thrift stores, flea markets, and some antique shops. Yes, you can find them on the internet, but for me, that takes the fun out of searching. The flea markets in Europe are always a pleasure to visit.
I just took some examples from my private collection to show you, readers, that there are multiple models. And, as you can see, the Wenger with the red scales has a broken blade tip. But otherwise, the knife is in good condition. I believe I paid only €5 for it at a secondhand shop. So you see even a knife that is not 100% perfect, it is fun to collect. On Instagram, you'll find many SAK collectors. It can give you ideas or even help you find that rare piece you're looking for.
Keep in mind, to follow the country's rules.
Goibniu wishes all our readers all the best for 2025. More good stories every week will follow.
